The Municipality of Ancona, inventor of the Macroregional Youth Games, and the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities, promoter of the exchange of this best practice between the cities that are part of it, have recalled their experience of the past editions of this project, in which sport has served as a bridge between young people from different countries. In fact, sport has been chosen as a tool that would connect young people from the so-called EUSAIR countries, countries that in the past have experienced the war, making feel them as belonging to a single area, without barriers.
Sport is an instrument of social, as well as environmental, sustainability. “Sport contributes to a healthy life and promotes the well-being of all, it is a champion of equality, generator of economic growth, that compares the inequalities between various countries on a playing field, but then tries to eliminate them, from a social and ethical point of view”
The organization of this kind of activity requires a lot of work, explained the councilor for sport of the Municipality of Ancona, but then it turns into a “party” for the whole city. Not only the young sportsmen were involved, but also the children of the schools who became reporters, translators and companions.
The municipality of Durres has experienced this project in 2022, with an edition in pills, but still engaging and satisfying. The project “EUSAIR4YOUTH” was an opportunity for all of them not only to connect and to meet each other but also to share common European values. Sport can strengthen social cohesion and social inclusion.
